Biography of Sophia Vergara

Sofia Vergara(Sofia Margarita Vergara) was born on July 10, 1972. She is an exceptionally talented and successful celebrity star ( Colombian actress, model, and television hostess ).

Early life

She was born in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her father Julio worked in the meat industry and her mother Margarita was a homemaker. She attended bilingual Spanish/English school.
Many opportunities arose to work in modeling and in show business, and Vergara decided to take them. With that move, she didn’t get a graduate at the dental school that she was attending. Soon she went to live in Miami, Florida, to take advantage of opportunities and to move away from a dangerous place to live in Colombia. The motive for moving is that her older brother had been murdered in 1998. She brought her, mother and sister and a son with her. Her sister Sandra is also a television actress in the USA.

Career

While walking on a Colombian beach Sophia was discovered by a photographer. When she was 17 years old Sophia made her first appearance as a performer in a Pepsi commercial.
Vergara co-hosted a many Spanish series 1995-98. Her first English-language television role came on a 1999 episode of “Baywatch”.
Sophia starred in several television programs with Univision and become a star in Latin American, after which she joined the ABC network in the United States. She appeared in ABC’s Hot Properties and The Knights of Prosperity and now stars in their sitcom Modern Family as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, for which she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for best-supporting actress in a comedy series.

Vergara’s first appearance in a movie was in the 2002 Disney comedy “Big Trouble,” portraying a maid who falls in love with a homeless played by Jason Lee.
Sophia was a cast member on “The Knights of Prosperity” and “Hot Properties” , both are the ABC’s comedies.

Vergara’s first movie role in a film was in “The Three Stooges” in 2011. Vergara’s other movie appearance is: “Chef,” “Wild Card,” “New Year’s Eve,” “Four Brothers” and “Fading Gigolo”
Vergara currently works on ABC series Modern Family as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. For “Modern Family” she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards.

Personal Life

She faced many ups and downs during her career. Sofia was divorced and had to raise her son alone. She was also diagnosed with cancer but in the end, she got cured.
Sofia married childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez at age 18 and gave birth to their son Manolo in 1992, but the couple divorced soon after. Later, Sofia was engaged to Nick Loeb but in 2014 she announced that the engagement had been called off. Sofia is currently rumored to be dating True Blood actor Joe Manganiello.
