Nicki Minaj is a famous American multi-talent ( actress, rapper, and songwriter ). Nicki Minaj is actually her stage name and her real name is Onika Tanya Maraj. She received a public notice and her fame has risen quickly to become a big star like today after her first mixtapes: Playtime is Over (2007), Sucka Free in 2008. and Beam Me Up Scotty in 2009. Also, in 2009 Nicki signed a recording contract with Young Money Entertainment.
Early Life
Nicki Minaj was born in Jamaica in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago on December 8, 1982.
She grew up as an unhappy child who was raised actually by her grandmother. Her parents(Robert and Carol Maraj) could not take care of Nicki. Her mother just visited her a few times, and her father was a violent man how was addicted to drugs. Also, he tried to kill her mother and burn their house.
Nicki had to work many jobs to survive in a cruel world since she was a child. She worked as a waitress for most of her life and once as administrative assistant but her love to music never disappeared as she loved to sing in church.
Career
Her first album, (Pink Friday in 2010), reached number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, and her single “Super Bass” also achieved the same success.
In just a little time her lyrical skills were sought after by the likes of famous hip hop artist Lil’ Wayne. Nicki was determined not to fall down like so many other talented female rappers. Instead, she used her lyrical skills through the ranks of the underground mixtape circuit.
Nicki became the first female solo artist with seven singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Her second album in the U.S. “Roman Reloaded” in 2012, also got the same success whose lead single (“Starships”) was a long time number 5. on the Billboard Hot 100. Several months after its initial release, the album was reissued in an expanded version, named “The Re-Up”,
Nicki’s third album, “The Pinkprint”, is scheduled to release in 2015. It’s single, “Anaconda”, achieved again a great success at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and is her highest-charting single in the U.S.
Nicki had the ability and star potential at the renowned school of performing arts which were shown in the movie and television series FAME. Immediately she began to attract the attention of local producers and hip hop, artists.
In movies, Nicki made her acting debut in The Other Woman(2013). Also, she gave her voice in the animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012). Her fame and talent pushed her thorough to all the way to the main judge on the twelfth season of American Idol.
